Actually is not self glorification, most humans just want validation.

 They want to have their worth and efforts recognized so they can feel validated. They can feel that they are worth something. It all starts when we are babies and our parents keep on insisting that we pronounce our first word, which usually is “mama”. Adults become happy en congratulate the child. So we learn that we should receive recognition for everything that we do. It becomes a pattern that is very much reinforced during school years. So when there is no one to validate us, we simply glorify ourselves!
